The Great Gatsby

INSPIRATION

The music in The Great Gatsby is reflective on the era of the flappers. This was a time period when people (women in particular) began to discover their right to express themselves however they wanted.

Jazz music was a different kind of music than any other that had been heard. Fun to dance to but sensuous and passionate at the same time, it was the first kind of music that was purely "American." The men and women who danced to it would flail their arms and move about with wild energy. It lifted the spirit of the flappers and exposed them to a new freedom of expression. Like the music itself, the men and women of the time became more wild and expressive.

Jay Gatsby is known for throwing outrageous parties every week. Since the record player was not around yet, live bands were required for parties to have lively music. Gatsby is rich enough to hire a live band that would play jazz every time he had a party. His guests loved to dance to the music, especially the popular "Charleston" dance

Let us take you on musical trip down memory lane, exploring all those wonderful songs from yester year that had you spellbound in nostalgia and tapping your feet too that great form of music…

With songs like “ALL That Jazz”,” “Ain’t She Sweet”,  “My Baby just cares For Me”,” Fever” and “Straighten Up And Fly Right” to name a few - will have you tapping your feat and clicking your fingers.
PAYING TRIBUTE TO THEFAMOUSCROONERSOF OUR TIME:

For the past few years we’ve seen a revival of the big band swing music. From classics like “My Way” to “Fly Me to the Moon”, musicals like Chicago and Guys and Dolls, everyone’s been transported to a time when raw talent shone through brightly.
We’ve created a simple and strong cabaret show which honours this genre’.
It features two guys (complete with loose black ties, pork pie hats and cocky bantering) and one gal (..glittering gown and sultry smooging)

and they take the audience on a journey back to the 40’s and 50’s.

We also star Four stunning dancers ( Clare, Shan Leigh, Chantal and Sharon,) who flank Emmanuel as he performs “Have You Met Miss Jones”, back Candice as she sings “All That Jazz” and perform the cool version of Ronnie’s “Leroy Brown”.

Our boys serenade the audience with the cocky version of Robbie Williams’ “Mac the Knife”, the passionate style of Rod Stewart’s “Lady Is a Tramp” and the gentle seduction of Nat King Cole’s “Unforgettable”.
Our girl performs hits like “At Last” and “Makin’ Whoopee”

Together they let loose with “Something Stupid” and “Let’s Call the Whole Thing Off.

ALL PICS. ARE FROM OUR ACTUAL SHOW
