Veronique Lalouette got her first taste of the entertainment industry at the tender age of 14, singing revamped jazz standards at the ‘District Six’ night-club with ‘The Light Years’ Jazz Quartet. It was in 1999 however, (her matric year at Northcliff High School ) that she joined her first band – ‘Black Ice’. V has been singing professionally ever since, doing everything from backing vocal session work, to lead vocals on many jingles and covers albums, as well as corporate band work and shows.
She was a top 4 finalist in the 2005 Idols III competition.
She performed as a soloist at the “Starlight Classics” concert at Kurland in Plettenberg Bay in Dec 2005 for RMB with the Festival orchestra.
March 2004 – Lead female vocalist in extravaganza ‘Las Vegas Fantasy’ which toured Taiwan for three weeks. They performed in the International Convention Centre in Taipei, for audiences of up to 9000 people.
May 2004 – Went to West Africa, (Nigeria, Ghana, Zimbabwe, Botswana, Namibia), as the ‘Music Consultant’, searching for contestants for the reality show, ‘Project Fame’.
April 2004 – Went to the Seychelles to perform with the dynamic corporate cabaret – ‘Sisters Sentimental – A Tribute to the Andrew Sisters’. The group (backed by a full five piece band) sing classics from the 1930’s hit sister trio.
August 2003 to January 2004 – One of three lead vocalists in the extravaganza-style cabaret ‘Sizzle’, which ran at the Colosseum Show Bar in Emperor’s Palace (previously known as ‘Caesar’s Gauteng’).
April to July 2005 – Lead female vocalist in Emperor’s Palace’s cabaret, ‘Magic Moments’.
2001 – One of the lead vocalists performing with a full orchestra in ‘The Last Night of the Proms’, conducted by Richard Cock, held at the Sandton Convention Centre.
In the same year, she performed once again with NSO at the ‘702 Mother’s Day Concert at the Zoo’ along with Alan ‘Chubby’ Ford, Gareth Cliff and Prince Lengoasa.
Over the years she has sung lead vocals on a number of highly successful advertisements. This includes: the ‘Purity’ advert, which won an award for its music at the international Clio Awards; The MTN ‘Hello the Future’ campaign; Wimpy’s ‘Do the Wimpy Sizzle’; ‘Red Cap Radio’ jingle for Mr Price; ‘Radio Pick ‘n Pay’ jingle for Pick ‘n Pay and more recently the “Temptations” lingerie commercial, even doing a voice over in French.
She has sung backing vocals on many South African artist’s albums, including: Dozi, Steve Hofmeyer, Leon Shuster, Kurt Darren, Amor Vittone, Heinz Winkler, Anke, Robin Walsh and Dorne
June 2001 – Performed with ‘Sisters Sentimental’ at the Accenture Winter Festival at the Botanical Gardens in JHB.
Sang the title track for Shadow Twala’s talk show ‘Soul Agenda’ around 1999.
At school, she participated in every year’s Major Production… NHS’ highly acclaimed musicals. She played the leading female roles in ‘The Pirates of Penzance’, ‘Hello Dolly’ and played “Roxie” in ‘Chicago’.
Her singing education began in 1994 with the reputable Irene Frangs. She continued training until the end of 1999 when Irene left for the USA to pursue teaching internationally.
