The Journey... It was back in 2002, when Steve won the Regional Old Mutual Jazz Encounters Competition in the Jazz Vocal Category as a newcomer to the style, that he begun to be noticed.  He continued to hone is craft as a jazz singer culminating in him being chosen to represent South African Youth Jazz on a trip to Sweden in 2004.  On his return to South Africa in 2005, Steve, more out of curiosity than anything else, entered Mnet’s reality television show, “Project Fame”.  After an extensive audition period throughout Africa, he was chosen to be one of the finalists and quickly became the chief focus for the media and public alike, ending up in the Top 10. On leaving the show, Steve was offered the lead role of Buddy Holly in Richard Loring’s production of “That’ll Be The Day” which ran for 10 months, receiving a Naledi Award Nomination for his performance.  Following this, Steve played the sought-after role of Danny Zuko in the 2006 nationwide touring production of “Grease”, directed by Ian Von Memerty.  It was after “Grease” that Steve, along with a host of other South African performers, decided to audition for a lucrative spot as a singer for the world-renowned American Cruise Company, Royal Caribbean.  He was the only male singer chosen and spent the next 2 years performing and cruising with an international cast, visiting over 60 cities in 4 continents in the process.     On returning to South Africa in 2008, Steve involved himself in his modeling (he has been a professional model for over 10 years and has done many commercials and print campaigns both locally and overseas, as well as being chosen as a finalist in Mnet’s Men’s Health Look Of The Year), and various cabaret and live-music shows around the country as a frontline singer (he has worked for producers such as Tyrone Watkins, Harold Van Buuren, Jaryd McKenzie and Cedric Van Der Schrink).

Steve is now based in Cape Town and has just had his solo artist launch.  As a singer/songwriter, Steve was noticed and approached by South Africa’s most successful songwriter to date, Terry Dempsey, and asked to collaborate on his 50 years in the industry anniversary album.  With over 200 self-penned songs and management and publishing deals having already being offered, as well as having just being voted South Africa’s Sexiest Male Musician in Glamour Magazine/IOL’s online poll, Steve plans to make an impact as an original artist in 2010 and beyond.
