The beautiful Sasha-Lee hails from a very close and loving community in Atlantis, Cape Town.
According to her dad, it was the way she cried that immediately made him think that this girl would one day become a professional and famous singer! She is from a huge family and has 9 siblings and being the 7th child, often acknowledges the fact the by the time she had to go to school, her older brother and sisters had paved the way for a smooth ride.
She maintained a low profile at primary school but actively participated in the drama group. She also started modeling and it was during her grade 7 year that she sang a solo for the first time and voila, everybody was bowled over… Her high school years was filled with singing and singing.. and more singing! She sang at every school function, in church, at weddings, parliament events and modeling shows. She was the soloist in the school choir and her biggest highlight was when during a Woman’s Prayer day, she realised that she could touch people with her great gift!
In December 2008, Mynie Grove phoned Sasha out of the blue and told her about a reality series casting for the DsTV channel MK called ‘Matrix’. She was chosen as one of 8 girls and won this competition hands down! The director of ‘Matrix ‘ heard Sasha sing in the show and promptly encouraged her to enter Idols – she was crowned Idols winner with fellow Idol Jason Hartman and is proud to be part of the Idols experience. Currently Sasha is working on her debut CD … watch this space ! |
