Jacques has loved singing all his life – but only started voice training (as a boy Soprano) with Angus Margerisson at the Somerset College at the age of 15. Very soon thereafter he was performing solo renditions at lunchtime and evening recitals arranged by the college. He was much sought after to sing at weddings etc.
Musical Instruments:
In his spare time at home Jacques loves playing the guitar, the piano, trumpet, mouth organ, bongo drums and keyboard.
Modelling:
Jacques won a modeling competition at the age of 15. This led to a lucrative part time modeling career. He featured in many TV commercials and magazines both locally and abroad.
Hobbies:
Jacques has many hobbies that include gym, basketball and soccer. He is an individualist who loves the outdoors and the ocean (although he is presently based in Jhb). He enjoys surfing, cliff jumping and hiking. Jacques also enjoys photography, which was one of his subjects at Damelin Eden Art Academy in Std 9 and matric. Jacques also enjoys ‘chilling’ in front of the TV or playing Play Station games.
Life Since Idols:
During the past 18 months Jacques has been performing and making guest appearances around the country as well as across the borders.

- He is also an AMBASSADOR for REDKEN Hair Products
- His first SINGLE ‘ENDLESSLY’ was nominated for a SAMA award
- He was nominated for and won the CRYSTAL AWARD (People Magazine) in the category ‘Best Male Newcomer – Music/Stage/Screen
- His ALBUM ‘EQ’, which has a jazzy flavour, was recently completed and released. It comprises the remake of some well known songs as well as a classical duet ‘The Prayer’. There is a song written by himself as well as one co-written with producer Crighton Goodwill. The album has received some rave reviews. (inter alia the Citizen newspaper and the TeenZone Magazine)
- He played the part of Andy Gibb in the musical tribute to the Bee Gees (Carnival City) There is a strong possibility that the production will tour the country in the new year.
- Has been approached by a UK director and producer with regard to a proposed musical to be staged during the second half of next year
- Plans are being finalized for a meeting to take place in July between Jacques and international Super Star Sir Cliff Richard. (Jacques met with Sir Cliff Richard during a recent trip in August to the UK - certain plans are in the pipeline for early next year)
- He also sang at the celebrity wedding of Ferdinand Rabie in Cape Town recently
- Jacques is often sought after as a celebrity JUDGE. Judging anything from singing competitions, beauty pageants to fashion shows.
- He is just as comfortable performing and entertaining at formal corporate functions as he is at school functions or shopping malls.
- Jacques is popular with people of all ages, colour and gender. Private functions he has attended and performed at include 40 and 50th birthday parties as well as a 13th birthday celebrations.
- Jacques also readily gives of his time to support numerous CHARITY organizations.
- Jacques was recently signed up by the International New Faces Management Company.
- Jacques is regularly interviewed by the media and has appeared as a guest on many television programs.
- Jacques, together with Producer Crighton Goodwill, has recently started his own RECORDING LABEL, GOOD TERROR. His talent as a SONGWRITER is flourishing too. He recently penned a song for a well known singer and has been approached by various other artists to do the same.
- A song ‘TAKE YA ASS’ written, produced and recorded by Good Terror and performed by Jacques and Crighton Goodwill made it to no 18 on the FiveFM top 40 chart.
- GoodTerror is currently negotiating the final details surrounding a new talent show to be aired later this year on ETV.
- GoodTerror were guest artists on ETV’S BACKSTAGE production.
- Jacques in collaboration with Kevin Kraak (a musical graduate from UCT) is currently engaged in the writing of a musical script.
- In April Jacques performed alongside inter alia GLORIA BOSMAN in a show at Carnival City.
- Jacques has completed a music video which will be released during his end of year tour and to coincide with the release of his new ‘Good Terror’ album
