Being the daughter of South African Rocker, Dave Ornellas from the 70's rock band ‘Hawk’, Beshara started performing on stage at the tender age of 11. From the moment she stepped onto the stage, she knew that she was born to be an entertainer and has been doing so ever since. At 16, her family recorded an album, ‘Dave and Family’ and spent four months travelling around Scandinavia, Italy, Portugal, the UK, Australia and the USA singing.
Beshara and her brother Daniel then started their first band 'Free' when she was 17 and traveled around South Africa performing. At 18 she entered the 'Hard Rock Cafe' competition, 'Stairway to the Stars' competing as a solo artist against various bands and other artists and took first place winning money with which she recorded her album ‘Beshara’. |
After school, she went to live in the United States for a year and when she returned, at 21, with her brother started the band 'Naked Lyric' which became quite a success touring South Africa and the UK.
Naked Lyric had a few songs on
rotation on 5fm with 'Bite my tongue' reaching no 12 on the ‘Top 40’ and they were nominated for a SAMA for 'best newcomer' and won the Cape Town “Battle of the Bands”.
They built up quite a substantial fan base but unfortunately broke up in their prime and each band member went their own way. Beshara's brother now plays for well known South African Band 'Tree63' and lives in Nashville, USA. |
Beshara was offered a contract with a cover band in the Middle East and went on to perform at various 5 star hotels in Bahrain, Muscat and Jordan. She was then approached by Sun City to be their resident singer at the Sun City Hotel Casino which she did for 9 months.
At the beginning of 2007 Beshara
decided to concentrate on doing
Corporate Functions and Parties. As a solo performer who works with sound tracks, Beshara has her own sound equipment and basic lighting for up to 150 guests. She also does larger scale functions with hired sound equipment. Beshara is constantly working on new songs to add to her extensive repertoire ranging from ‘Oldies’ to the more modern Pop Songs of today. |
