Andriëtte was born in Cape Town and started singing at the tender age of 12. During her school years she sucessfully participated in singing competitions and won several trophees during this time. This set the stage for greater things to come! After matriculating she obtained an International Diploma in Beauty Therapy and today owns her own beauty salon called ‘PACHOULI WELLNESS’. An interesting fact about her is that she is a provincial lifesaver (WP) but it was always a dream of Andriëtte to become a full time singer and pop star. This prompted her to enter Idols in June 2007. The rest is history! Andriette is a consumate performer and carries the accolade from notorius Idols judge Randall Abrahams for being ‘the best singer that has ever entered Idols’ ! She is the runner up of Idols Sa Season 4 and fans can expect her debut album early in 2008!

Andriëtte prides herself on being able to lift the mood and loves shopping and romance! She already runs her own business and has developed a knack for listening and talking to people with problems. Her weirdest moment was doing a pedicure for the first time and when she’s not busy being a beauty therapist she enjoys doing adventurous things like hiking in the mountains.

Song Sung for 1st Idols audition:
I sang ‘I surrender’ by Celine Dion; but the judges wanted more of a ‘show’, so I had to change, have a mini-makeover and come back in singing the Punk Rocker song…

Formal Training
I started singing in Grade 6 and had formal training from Grade 9 – after that I thought they couldn’t teach me anything anymore.

Your Idols
I’m a big fan of Idols and loved Poseletso, Heinz and Melanie; Gift was also very nice.

Favourite Judge and Why?
My favourite judges were Mara and Gareth, they were both very friendly. Randall only said one word during the whole audition, and that was “yes”. Dave just said “we’ll see you in Jo’burg”.

Musical Influence / Favourite Artists and Bands?
My favourite at the moment is John Legend! I’m not a band fan; I’m more of a solo artist fan and enjoy people like Michael Bublé, Celine Dion and Christina Aguilera.

Girlfriend / Boyfriend?
Yes, he’s very, very supportive. He brought me flowers after every audition and sent everyone SMS’s when I got through. He told me he’s not going to stress himself about me going to Johannesbug, he’s positive about the relationship, he supports me and he knows this is my dream.

Previous Successes?
I’ve won a few trophies in singing competitions. I’ve never gone into a big competition or anything and until now I’ve just done it because I enjoy it.
