In Short
Dreshni Pillay aka Dre has been involved in the South African media industry for over 13 years now. Her vast experience in this industry includes 10 years as a television producer and presenter as well as 7 years as a radio DJ and producer.

Her time spent behind the microphone as a radio DJ earned her the love and adoration of many fans and resulted in a loyal following of thousands of South Africa's youth. Her penchant for the finer things in life, coupled with her easy-to-talk to persona and ever ready street smart comments, earned her the affectionate title of “The Sandton Kugel with Township savvy”.
TV & Radio
Dre studied towards a degree in media studies at Boston Media House where she majored in film and television production. After graduating as a producer, and at the tender age of 21, she opened her very own TV production company, “Dre Productions” which immediately won tenders to produce TV documentaries throughout Africa, especially French speaking, West Africa.

Not satisfied with her accomplishments thus far, and determined to conquer every aspect of the media industry, Dre ventured in front of the camera and landed a spot as a continuity presenter on Mnet's
magazine programme, EastNet.

Subsequent stints in front of the lens resulted in her hosting a popular world music programme called “Juke Box Africa”, as well as a music show for French TV's, Channel 5 titled “Jen Afrik” and an educational
TV game show on SABC3 called “EQ99” which pitted rival schools against each other testing their general knowledge. Her big break however, came when she presented the LIVE TV game show on E TV, MAHALA ON E! The show was a GREAT success and entrenched Dre's position as a premiere TV personality in South Africa. Other noteworthy accomplishments include co-hosting a music show with Nicole Fox (of 5fm) called “Vibes” and lastly presenting Eastern Mosaic on Mnet.
TV & Radio
Time spent behind the microphone has resulted in more avenues opening up and she is now widely sought after for her voice over work. Listening to the current “Clearasil” television advert will give you some idea as to her talents as a voice over artist.

Not one to rest on her laurels, Dre's push into commercial radio began with a short stint on Radio Highveld (94.7) before she landed a job at YFM (99.2), Johannesburg's leading youth radio station. Working at YFM, she dominated the airwaves, and soon came to be recognised as one of their leading DJ's.

Dre initially hosted the breakfast show with the ever popular DJ Khabzela, then went on to co-host the mid-morning show DK@Y before later landing her very own Saturday and Sunday show, counting down the countries' Top 40 Biggest Hits. The show titled “Dre on Fire” was wildly successful and commanded listenership figures numbering 800 000. Through all of this, she was also drafted in to host another breakfast show titled “Breakfast B4 Breakfast”.
Accomplishments
During her relatively short career, Dre's abundant talent and boundless energy has resulted in her reaching a number of significant milestones and being awarded numerous accolades along the way. A noteworthy award, and one that lies close to her heart was when she was awarded the title of “Best Female DJ” in the Kellogg's Kids Choice Awards. Voted on by 1.2 million kids countrywide, Dre beat out 5FM's Nicole Fox, Koula and Unathi from YFM to be recognised as the number one Female DJ in the country.

Along with Pabi Maloi and Nicole Fox, Dre was also one of the first South African women to grace the cover of the international youth magazine, “Seventeen”. The cover story explored the influence of role models on the youth and voted these three personalities as the most influential women in media and the youth.

Dre was also voted as the 59th most beautiful woman in FHM's annual poll, “The FHM 100 Sexiest Women in the World”. Being as attractive as she is talented, Dre also earned the position of M-Net's first bachelorette when that reality show was initially launched. As a perk she got to date some of the countries most handsome and eligible bachelors. In 2004, Dre was also named by DRUM Magazine as one of their “Top 20 Most Beautiful Women”. She has also graced the cover of Y Mag and True Love Magazine, and was also crowned Miss October in the “True Love Calender of 2006”. Lastly, Dre was chosen as the face of the Boston City Media Schools' TV ads.
MC & Interview
While working on radio, Dre's core audience became the youth of South Africa. She enjoyed working with children immensely and has grown into an accomplished motivational speaker and MC.

Part of her portfolio as an MC, includes touring with and introducing Blue Cantrall on the South African leg of her world tour. She also MC'd the FHM and Mens Health Awards in 2005.

Lastly, Dre has conducted some amazing celebrity interviews which included some notable firsts. She conducted R Kelly's first and only African interview, has spoken to Tyrese, Chante` Moore, Tamia, Kelly Roland and Beyonce`(of Destiny's Child), conducted a telephone interview with “The Black Eyed Peas”, and has sat down in studio to talk to superstar rapper Ludacris when he toured South Africa.

Dynamic and driven, Dre relishes new challenges and looks forward to attaining what was previously thought unattainable. Eager to grow and forever seeking new opportunities, Dre recently took a leap of faith by launching her own internet radio station. With her courage and determination to succeed it is inevitable that this new venture will grow from strength to strength and once again raise the bar on what those in the industry consider as accepted practice. The internet as a medium for entertainment and communication has as yet, not been fully explored and the ability to reach millions not only in South Africa
but worldwide will surely launch Dreshni into the stratosphere of the media and entertainment industry.
