Black South Easter take their name from the uplifting and revitalizing winds that blow across the Cape Peninsula and the music they play follows in its path. With infectious grooves and soaring melodies the band captivates and moves their audiences in a typically South African celebration. Their sound mixes the best of local flavours including jive, soul, dance and afro-pop. The band is fronted by the silken voiced Nhoza Sitsholwana, who started her career at 17 singing backup with Simphiwe Dana and now at the age of 24 has become a leading lady of great power and beauty. Jimi Curve plays the Bass and also produces the band using his vast experience gained from years of playing with likes of Arno Carstens and a host of well known projects. Dan Boshoff plays guitars and has performed on the biggest stages in the country with local and international artists for the past ten years. Jerry Mbowa plays the drums and has been touring locally and internationally for the past twenty years including the hit show Diamonds in the Dust and musicians of the calibre of McCoy Mrubata and Winston Mankunku. Vaughn Tromp plays the horns and has been touring the world extensively over the past few years with Lucky Dube and Gito Baloi. Black South Easter are also joined by Keyboard Player Nelson Malela for select gigs and he brings much experience ranging from Brenda Fassie to the cream of the local music industry.
The band has a fantastic original repertoire as well as a selection of choice cover versions. Black South Easter have played at venues and events across South Africa and pride themselves in always creating a magical atmosphere.
