Handful of Keys

THE MOST SUCCESSFUL SOUTH AFRICAN REVUE OF THE LAST DECADE IS BACK AND IT JUST KEEPS GOING. Younger, Taller and Fresher. In this its third incarnation.

This hilarious two-man piano show conceived and starring Ian von Memerty and Bryan Schimmel, began in 1994 - and for the next 3 years played for over 300 performances to over 100 000 people. Garnering reviews that producers dream about and collecting box office queues that there bank managers fantasize about still.

In 2001 – it entered its second incarnation - again starring Ian von Memerty, but this time along the unknown Roelof Colyn, who enjoyed a massive success in the show. The show toured nationally, and to London and Australia (twice). Again the audiences and critics were ecstatic, and the audiences poured in, in ever increasing numbers. Another 3 years, another 300 performances and the show was seen by another 100 000 people.

And now in 2005 - the show has taken on it's third shining shape. Starring, once again, Roelof Colyn and introducing Capetonian - Jeremy Quickfall, who has been directed by Ian von Memerty, in beautiful costumes by Grazia Verona, on a gleaming new set designed and lit by Denis Hutchinson.

In Jeremy Quickfall, comes a bright new talent to ease into this smoothly polished show. An excellent pianist with a B MUS from the University of Cape Town, he has all the pianistic skill necessary to handle the extreme demands of the show. He also is a part-time singing/piano teacher at UCT, with all the musicality and vocal power needed to handle the range of material in the show. Jeremy has a fantastic wide smile and a big energy to match his 1,8 m plus frame, and seems to have the touch of madness required. This will be carefully and nurtured until he truly insane.

Having toured wonderully succesfully around the country from August 2005 to January 2006 - it will continue touring to Klerksdorp Barnyard June 8 -24, and Broadacres Barnyard from August 8th -27th.

The show has something magical that speaks to people of all ages ; the music is magically evergreen, the humor is sharp and irreverent, and script dazzlingly witty and fast. Come enjoy a show with diamond shine and clarity with a contemporary and flashy new cut - a guaranteed great night out...
