Equally at home as a comic or a compere, Darren Maule is a promising young South African talent. After ten years excelling in physical comedy, he shifted his focus to stand-up and in a few short years has become one of the most reliable acts around. His youthful, gangly persona disguise a wicked tongue and an earthy, definitely adult sense of humour suited to crowds who really want to let their hair down. Ruthless in his audience interaction, he turns the front row into a masochist’s paradise; the more ribbing he hands out, the more they like it. Darren has appeared on Comedy Showcase and the Comedy Express Video, and works countrywide at Comedy Express venues. He is currently the permanent daily host on the popular SABC production Play TV. He is actively involved in searching for new comedy venues and organising open mic evenings, to give new comics the opportunity to test their craft in front of an audience.
