Juanita Kruger was educated at the University of Natal, Durban. She made her professional debut in 1987 in “It’s Better with A Band” directed by the late Geoffrey Sutherland. A number of revues followed, and in 1991 she shared the lead role with Kate Normington in “My Fair Lady”. She continued to work in musicals, pantomimes and revues for Napac as well as in corporate theatre. In addition she did much work as a session singer and jingles vocalist. In 1993 she played the lead role in the national touring version of “Oklahoma!” This was followed by Maria in the “Sound of Music” for Napac, “Tropical Rhythm”, “New York State of Mind”, “Broadway Babes” in Stellenbosch, ”Hair” at the Johannesburg Civic Theatre, “The Best of the Best” and “Heaven Can’t Wait” at the Theatre on the Track and the “Magic of Walt Disney” for the Peoples Theatre. Early in 1994 she was seen as Irene in the PACT/CAPAB production of “Crazy For You” in Cape Town and later in 1995/96 she starred as Maria in Pact's  “West Side Story” in Pretoria, Cape Town and Bloemfontein (directed by acclaimed American director, Alan Johnson). This was followed by Tuptim in ”The King and I”, “Rodgers and Hammerstein” with the Transvaal Philharmonic Orchestra at the State Theatre and “In Concert-The Music Of Andrew Lloyd-Webber" at the Civic Theatre in Johannesburg. She has also received two FNB Vita nominations for her roles of Maria in both “The Sound of Music” and “West Side Story” respectively. In 1997 she was seen in Pact's production of “Oklahoma!” at the Pretoria State Theatre. The year following saw a run of "The Best of Broadway" in Sun City.

1999, brought along a trip to the Spier Festival where Juanita alongside Joseph Clark appeared with the National Chamber Orchestra in a number of sold out concerts covering a broad spectrum of showstoppers from the musicals, movies, and pop charts.

In 2000, Juanita once again along with Joseph Clark re-opened the Port Elizabeth Opera House with their show, “A Night with the Stars”. They received wonderful revues for their versatility and vocal performance. 

Juanita has been fortunate enough to work as a soloist / guest artist with the country’s top orchestra’s including; the New Arts Philharmonic Orchestra, the National Chamber Orchestra, the National Symphony Orchestra, and the Kwa-Zulu Natal Philharmonic Orchestra. She has participated in the “Pretoria Pops” with Andre Shwartz (conducted by Graham Scott) and “The Best of Broadway” with the National Symphony Orchestra (conducted by Michael Hankinson) at their annual Picnic Proms at the Johannesburg Botanical Gardens - to name a few.

Her most recent stage performances, were alongside Joseph Clark and the Johannesburg Philharmonic Orchestra in “Queen – The Concert”, and a run of “Simply Irresistible” at the Sneddon Theatre. She was also a guest artist at the Jacaranda Pops, alongside artists like Dawney, PJ Powers and Robin Walsh.

April 2003 saw the premier of “Sonder Grense” with Gloria Bosman, Zwai Bala (TKZ), Jannie Moolman and Joseph Clark at the Klein Karoo Kuns Fee.(cd available). 

A highlight, was a performance alongside PJ Powers, Judith Sephuma and Yvonne Chaka Chaka at the opening ceremony to the Sixteen Days Against violence against Women and Children Campaign.

Juanita works extensively in all aspects of the corporate sector. Memorable events that have taken place abroad have taken her to cities like New Orleans, St.Petersburg, Helsinki, Stokholm, Frankfurt, Accra and many others.

Juanita can be heard on various CD’s including “Sonder Grense”, “Lorraine Shannon”, (This album won the SAMA)  and “Jannie Moolman”.
