- Gaabo-Motho Tenors are currently receiving extensive music training at the Tshwane University of Technology Vocal Arts Department.
- Gaabo-Motho translates into “where one belongs”. It is an ideal name for the group as it illustrates that Classical Music is the cornerstone and roots of Gaabo-Motho Tenors.
- The main objective of Gaabo-Motho Tenors is to redefine classical music performance by influencing the repertoire in a unique manner, thereby highlighting the diversity of our nation and providing quality entertainment that will appeal to a wider audience. Gaabo-Motho Tenors take a holistic approach to their repertoire ranging from opera arias to traditional South African tunes to timeless Rn’B and Pop songs adapted to classical music. Each performance is viewed as a further milestone in the group’s career.
- The focal point of Gaabo-Motho Tenors is the sheer charm and presence the group command on and off stage. Interaction and connection with the audience is key to Gaabo-Motho Tenors success.
- Despite hailing from adverse backgrounds, the ambition of Gaabo-Motho Tenors is to collate a full back-up band / accompaniment and provide a source of work and experience to fellow musicians (i.e. instrumentalists).
- One of Gaabo-Motho Tenors revolutionary implementations is the incorporation of a poet in some of their South African traditional songs.
- Classical music is an ideal medium for Gaabo-Motho Tenors to express their views and feelings on matters they feel strongly about i.e. “love”, “passion”, “disease”, “diversity of our nation” to mention only a few.
- Personal Objective of Gaabo-Motho Tenors is “On-going improvement”. Qualities that bring Gaabo-Motho Tenors together are talent, compatibility and how they complement each other – on and off stage. This project is a rapture of classical music and will introduce some unique and indigenous sounds.
- Each member of Gaabo-Motho Tenors enjoys a wealth of experience within the Classical Music Industry proven by an impeccable track record of acclaimed accolades. On Sunday 7 May 2006 two of Gaabo-Motho Tenors (Mmusi Morekhure and Phenye Modiane) took positions one and two respectively at the provincial SACMA competitions in Lichtenburg North-West province.
- Gaabo-Motho Tenors share the same passion and appreciation for Classical Music. These four different Tenors blend well on stage and create a beautiful melody.
