Soprano Candis Angelene has enjoyed a diverse career on stage and screen. She has sung with the Johannesburg Philharmonic Orchestra at concerts as well as on ‘The Joburg Pops’ and ‘The 12 Days of Christmas’ (SABC 2). A seasoned performer at corporate events she has wowed audiences from likes of Barloworld, MTN , Standard Bank and the ‘Car of the Year’event. In 2008 Candis performed at the Nanning Folk Music Festival in China to audiences of over 30000. She has shared the stage with SA stars including Vicky Sampson, Joseph Clark, Karen Zoid and André Schwartz.
Celtic Woman and Sarah Brightman are often referred to when comparing the singer, whose voice is clear and bell-like. In November 2009 Candis released her debut CD ‘Ancient Light’ in the classical crossover genre, which reached No.4 on the Classic FM Top 20 Chart. The album contains original songs, with lyrics written by Candis. She has received a good deal of media publicity, with feature articles in various publications, as well as interviews and performances on radio and TV.
‘Ancient Light – In Concert with Candis Angelene’ was first performed on 28 March 2010. Accompanied by a classical ensemble and guest artist Joseph Clark, the songs from her album came to life on the stage, as well as other favourites such as ‘Fields of Gold’ (Sting) and The Prayer (Celine Dion and Andre Bocelli)
