Wade Jed-Daniel – It Must Have Been Love
Biography
Wade Jed-Daniel hails from Durban, KwaZulu Natal, and has been involved in the music biz since the tender age of four! As a teenage model, Wade was in great demand as a solo singer at weddings and beauty pageants, and was very popular for his singing as well as his aesthetic appeal.
Wade studied classical piano through Trinity School of Music in London for 10 years and thereafter studied jazz and blues with renowned master of jazz, musician Melvyn Peters at the University of Westville for 2 years. As a youngster, he entered Golden Voice SA and was placed 4th nationally. Because he was in the top 10, he was offered a scholarship at the prestigious Drakensburg Boys School but did not take up the offer.
He entered and won SA’s biggest national Gospel Talent Search Competition and thereafter formed his own gospel group called Colors. Colors signed a recording contract with David Gresham Records and Wade also signed a solo contract with them.
Richard Aronson, a renowned producer from the states (who has worked among the likes of Whitney Houston and Lionel Ritchie), was brought to South Africa by Gresham to help write and produce songs for Colors and for Wade. Singles started getting airplay and storming the charts and it was at this point that Lennie Petze (ex vice-president of Sony/Epic records in New York_ offered Wade a recording deal. Sadly, the deal never materialized due to contractual issues.
Among his many career highlights,
- Wade was a support act for Jeff Fenholdt (ex Black Sabbath)
- Back up singer for 5 time Grammy Award winner, Larnelle Harris
- Back up singer for American Dove Award winner, Ron Kenoly.
- Performed at Miss Universe the year that Michelle McLean won the crown.
- Back up vocalist for
- Tima Reece
- Danny K
- TK
- Ed Jordan

Wade is one of the most sought after session singers, but now, with the release of his upcoming album through Electromode Music, Wade has become one of the most sought after original artists in South Africa.
Already play listed on Highveld Stereo, Algoa FM, Ifm, Metro FM, East Coast radio and East Rand Stereo, the first single, “It Must Have Been Love” (not be confused with Roxette’s 1990 single of the same name), Wade has proven that he is definitely a musical force to be reckoned with.
Wade’s debut album of the same name is a mix of heart-wrenching power ballads and great pop songs that’ll touch the hearts of all his listeners.
Performing with a full 4 piece band, Wade is definitely one of South Africa’s shining talents, and one to look out for in 2006 and beyond.
